About Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Song

Robert L. May was tasked in 1939 with coming up with a Christmas story for Montgomery Ward, where he worked. He created the storybook, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. He enlisted the help of his brother-in-law John Marks, to write the song. The song debuted in 1949, sung by cowboy Gene Autry. It is one of the most popular Christmas carols. Here are the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer song lyrics.

Reindeer in Chimney

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Song Lyrics

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,

you know Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,

But do you recall

The most famous reindeer of all

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Has a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer’s

Used to laugh and call him names

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

Santa came to say,

Rudolph with your nose so bright,

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight

Then all the reindeer’s loved him,

As they shouted out with glee,

Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer

You’ll go down in history

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Has a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw it,

You would even say it glows,

And all of the other reindeer’s

Used to laugh and call him names,

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games,

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

Santa came to say,

Rudolph with your nose so bright,

Wont you guide my sleigh tonight

Then all the reindeer’s loved him,

As they shouted out with glee,

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,

You’ll go down in history
