Gingerbread Ingredients

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 egg

1/2 cup molasses

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup boiling water

How to Make Gingerbread Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. Beat shortening and sugar until creamy.

  3. Add egg and molasses and beat well.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients thoroughly.

  5. Alternately add molasses and boiling water to the dry mixture. Beat after each addition.

  6. Pour batter into a greased 8″ X 8″ baking pan.

  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.

  8. Serve warm.
