Barn Day

National Red Barn Day. When is Barn Day?

About Barn Day

When is National Barn Day? This holiday is celebrated on the second Sunday in July

A barn is an iconic outbuilding on just about every farm in rural America. Usually painted a traditional, classic red color, it is the heart of the farm. And, it evokes thoughts and warm feelings of a quieter place and time in American life. So, today, we celebrate National Barn Day. On this July holiday, we turn nostalgic as we think about them and imagine life on the farm.

Historically, the life of a barn begins with a barn-raising. This is a community event. All the neighbors and townsfolk get together and help with its construction. The ladies prepare food and drink for the workers. They gather and help with the tools. They provide encouragement as the structure goes up, too. The men provide the brawn and the muscle. Depending upon the size of the barn, the frame can rise in just a day. Nowadays, barn-raising events are infrequent. Most construction is performed by professional contractors.

Once the structure is completed, it is used for a wide variety of purposes. There’s plenty of room for farm equipment, tools, and machinery. Horses and cows are often housed in them. Other farm animals take up residence, too. But, not all farm animals live in them. Pigs reside in a pigsty, while chickens, ducks, and geese live in a coop. Hay is a common item stored in the loft. Other farm produce may also find temporary storage here.

Song of the Day: Old McDonald Had a Farm.

Our Favorite Vowels: “E-I-E-I-O.

What are Barns Used For?

The primary use for a barn on a farm is to shelter farm animals, and store farm equipment. Just about any farm animal can be housed in a barn full-time, or during inclement weather. Here are just a few of the many uses for a barn. Among them are:

  • Store hay and oats to feed farm animals.
  • House horses along with saddles and other riding equipment.
  • Repair area to fix farm tools and equipment.
  • Store farm tractors, seeders, balers, reapers, and other farm machinery.
  • Hold barn dances.

Repurposed barns have a wide range of uses. Here are just some of them:

  • Reception and party venue.
  • Store antique automobiles.
  • Antique shops.
  • Country stores.
  • Unique restaurants, cideries, wineries, and breweries.
  • Converted to housing.
  • Ideas for repurposed barns is almost endless.

Farm and Barn Day Trivia and Fun Facts

Here are some barn trivia and farm fun facts:

  • In 1935, there were 6.8 million farms in the United States. And most of the farms had at least one barn.
  • In 2023, there were an estimated 1.89 million farms in the United States. Yes, small farms are disappearing at a fast pace.

History and Origin of National Barn Day

Our research has not yet found the creator of this day or why it was created. One reference we found stated this holiday has been around for over 50 years, Another reference stated it began in 2019. The holiday has yet to attain broad recognition. (Let’s change that!)

The earliest references we found both state that this holiday is celebrated on the second Sunday in July. A couple of websites report it as July 14. We believe these websites are incorrect.

Originally titled Barn Day, a couple of internet websites have recently referred to it as National Barn Day. However, it is not a true “National” day. Neither the U.S. Congress nor the President of the United States has proclaimed today to be a “National” day. If you’d like this to become a true “National” day, contact your congressperson.

Made in the USA Day

When is American Flag Day? Old Glory Flag Etiquette. June 14 holidays
Flag of USA

About Made in the USA Day

When is Made in the USA Day? This holiday is always celebrated on July 2

Raise the flag! Show your pride in our great country. Support your fellow citizens. Today is Made in the USA Day. Both consumers and manufacturers celebrate this patriotic holiday. Also sometimes called Made in America Day, this July 2 holiday appeals to the patriotism in each and every one of us. It encourages us to buy American-manufactured products. And, it encourages manufacturers to source component parts and materials right here in the good old U.S. of A.

Are you tired of the poor quality of goods made in China and many other foreign countries? Sure you are! What sells us on imports is the lower purchase price. But after the fact, purchasing lower priced goods doesn’t look so good when the product quickly breaks or doesn’t perform up to expectations. So, take a stand and commit yourself to buying U.S.-made products wherever possible. You’ll be glad that you did!

Americans vote with their dollars. Consumers, celebrate this holiday, by voting your dollars in support of American manufacturers.  It assures the prosperity of our great nation.

Flag of USA

Why Buy American?

It’s the patriotic thing to do. It’s your country. When you buy American, you are helping your countrymen and yourself. When you purchase American-made goods, you’re strengthening the economy of our great country. That helps us to remain great.

It provides more jobs for Americans. When you help to create jobs for your fellow citizens, they contribute to the economy instead of drawing on unemployment and entitlement programs. They pay taxes, crime goes down, and they become more responsible citizens.

American manufacturers produce higher quality goods. It’s a fact. They may cost a little more than imports. But, American made goods last longer and perform better.

It helps the Balance of Trade with other countries. Today, we import about a trillion dollars more than we export. This puts a drag on the economy. We have become a debtor nation. And it ultimately takes money out of your pocket.

What products are "Made in the USA"?

Use Made in America Day to better understand what it means to be “Made in the USA”. You might think that this definition is simple. Well, it’s not.

Product labels are regulated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC provides guidelines and protects American consumers from false and misleading information. To qualify as “Made in the USA”, the product must meet two qualifications.

  1. Product assembly occurs in the U.S.
  2. A significant amount of the product cost is U.S.-made parts and components. To reach this qualification, 55% of parts and materials must be domestic content.

If the product cost does not meet both of these requirements, it does not earn the “Made in the USA” label.

Flag of USA

How to Celebrate and Participate in Made in the USA Day

Here are some ideas on how to participate in this important holiday:

  • Buy American-made products.
  • Check the tag, label, or product packaging to see where it comes from. If it says “Made in the USA”, select it over other brands. What you may lose in price will be more than made up by better quality and performance of the item.
  • Take your patriotic fervor another level. Shop at American-owned retailers. If you shop at a foreign-owned retail outlet, the profit goes overseas and doesn’t benefit you or America.
  • Encourage your family and friends to buy American.
  • Post on social media products you find that are American made.
  • Fly the flag today and every day.
  • Manufacturers should use this day to make efforts to increase the amount of U.S. manufactured content in their products.

Today's Quotes

“Patriot: the person who can holler the loudest without knowing what he is hollering about.” – – Mark Twain

“If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” – – Ronald Reagan

Old Glory, July 2 holiday

History and Origin of Made in the USA Day

In 1989, Joel Joseph of the Made in the USA Foundation Created Made in the USA Day. The objective of this holiday is to increase the sales of products made in America. And as a result, it increases American jobs. Furthermore, by purchasing American-made products, you’re helping to lower the trade balance with other nations. So, the holiday is a call to all American consumers to buy American goods and products.

Joel Joseph chose July 2 as the date to celebrate this annual holiday because it is just before the Fourth of July. This is when American patriotism is at its highest point of the year.

World Social Media Day

Cell Phone, National App Day. When is Social Media Day? June 30 holidays

About World Social Media Day

When is World Social Media Day? This holiday is always observed on June 30

Let’s be sociable! With the arrival of the internet, it’s become easy to communicate our lives, our feelings, and our beliefs. We post countless pictures and texts. Today is World Social Media Day. On this June 30 holiday, we celebrate the invention of this great interactive tool that has changed our lives and the way we communicate with the world. What better way to celebrate than to go on our cell phones and access our favorite social media platforms.

It’s in our DNA to be sociable. We humans are generally friendly and communicate with one another. And today, thanks to the internet and its many social channels, it has never been easier to keep in touch. We share our lives with others in what we post online. It regularly absorbs many enjoyable hours of our time.

Social media can be good. And sometimes, it is a bad thing. It’s great to transmit and share news and information. Social platforms on the internet allow us to get our message across, loudly, clearly, and instantaneously. We openly share to the world our thoughts and feelings in words, pictures, and video. We express our beliefs, too. Unfortunately, our communications are unfiltered and that can be good or bad. And, the proliferation of fake news is an immense problem on social media platforms. So, we have to take the good with the bad, and appreciate the good features and benefits it offers us.

The Evolution of Communications and Social Media

As mentioned previously, we are social creatures. Our first communications were charcoal writings on cave walls. As time passed, man began to communicate with etchings on stone tablets. Leap forward a few thousand years, and our ancestors discovered how to make crude paper out of papyrus leaves. Communications and recording of historical events were printed on the papyrus sheets.

Leap forward another few thousand years, and we find much better quality paper going through printing presses. This allowed us to communicate to a much broader population. And, we put pen to paper. On it, we wrote love letters, business correspondence, and expressed our views. Copiers were invented, and our social interactions grew in leaps and bounds.

Then, one day not so long ago, the Internet was invented. At first the internet was used by businesses, scientists, and other organizations. Then, in the blink of an eye, we all became connected to the “Net”. As billions of us found more and more uses for the Internet, it became evident, that it was not just a source of information. Rather, we came to realize that we could use it to communicate to one or two people, or to the whole world. With this realization, social media was born, and many social platforms were created to meet our various needs.

Social Media Trivia and Fun Facts

There’s no fake news here. We believe this social media trivia is true and factual.

  • The term social media was coined in 1997.
  • SixDegrees.com launched the first social media platform on the internet.
  • Teens are by far the biggest users. Is anyone surprised by this fact?
  • Facebook has an estimated 3.1 billion users.

  • Every picture and posting you make increases your digital footprint. And, it stays out there forever.

  • Join a social media platform that you are not currently on.
  • Be polite. Practice good Netiquette.

Today's Quotes

“Social media is reducing social barriers. It connects people on the strength of human values, not identities.” – – Narendra Modi

“Social media is an amazing tool, but it’s really the face-to-face interaction that makes a long-term impact.” – – Felicia Day

“Social media is something of a double-edged sword. At its best, it offers unprecedented opportunities for marginalized people to speak and bring much needed attention to the issues they face. At its worst, social media also offers ‘everyone’ an unprecedented opportunity to share in collective outrage without reflection.” – – Roxane Gay

History and Origin of Social Media Day

On June 30, 2010 World Social Media Day was born. Mashable created this annual holiday to celebrate the evolution and growth of what we fondly refer to as social media. The term “social media” defines the many platforms we use today to communicate on the internet. However, social media in its broader definition, is any vehicle we use to communicate person to person.

It wasn’t all that long ago when we communicated with each other over the phone and by writing a letter with pen and paper. When is the last time you wrote and mailed a letter to someone? Now, we post it for all the world to see on our favorite of many internet social media platforms. Often, we post the same thing on multiple social platforms.

Global Beatles Day

When is Global Beatles Day? Beatles Revolver Record Album, June 25 holidays

About Global Beatles Day

When is Global Beatles Day? This holiday is always observed on June 25

Today we are celebrating a global music sensation. Today is Global Beatles Day. They are the greatest band to ever step onto the stage. On this June 25 holiday, we celebrate the Fab Four – Geroge Harrison, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr. Beatlemania, as it was called, took the music world by storm. Their reign together lasted for a decade, as they produced one Number 1 hit after another. Every concert was over-filled with wild and screaming starry-eyed fans. The overwhelming success and popularity of the Beatles will be all but impossible to match or beat. So, get out your old Beatles LP records and listen to their historic Rock ‘N Roll music.

In 1960, The Beatles began their road to fame in Liverpool, a suburb of London, England.  The Beatles last public performance as a group was not intended to be the last. Rather, it was a “Get Back Together” project. They played together from the rooftop of the headquarters of Apple Corporation (Apple Records.) It was their first live performance since a farewell tour in 1966. The concert was a success and the group appeared smiling, laughing and happy. However, instead of reuniting them, the rooftop concert on June 30, 1969 was their last public performance as a group. After the group’s final performance together, each Beatle went on to write and sing their own new music. Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney both created their own bands, too. Several decades later, the music of the Beatles remains popular.

Have a rockin Happy Global Beatles Day!

The Beatles Trivia and Fun Facts

Chances are you already know a lot about the “Fab Four”. But, here’s some Beatles trivia and fun facts you may not know:

  • In 1957, John Lennon was the first member of the band.
  • The band was originally called the “Quarrymen”.
  • In May, 1960, they called themselves the “Silver Beatles”. They dropped the word “Silver” a few months later.
  • The first British performance of the Beatles as a group was on December 17, 1960, at the Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool, England.
  • The band sold over 2 billion albums.
  • None of the Beatles could read music. But, oh could they write and sing it.
  • Amazingly, they amassed 20 number 1 hits, and 34 Billboard “Top 10” hits.
  • They had nine 45s that featured songs on each side that reached the Billboard Top 30.
  • They are the only band to push themselves out of the Number One position with another Number One hit.
  • Their longest single is “Hey Jude”. It is 7 minutes and 15 seconds long.
  • At one time, there was speculation that Paul McCartney had died. At the end of “Strawberry Fields Forever,” John Lennon allegedly mumbles something sounding like “I buried Paul,”. It fueled a “Paul is Dead” rumor.
  • People believed the song “Got to Get You into My Life” was about a girl. Paul McCartney later admitted it was about marijuana.
  • “Let it Be” is the last album they released.

Movies to Watch on Global Beatles Day

The Beatles appeared along with their music in four movies.

A Hard Day’s Night (1964) – This movie was made in black and white. It was a musical comedy. The movie release was right at the peak of the Beatlemania craze.

National Pralines Day

When is National Pralines Day? June 24 holidays.

About National Pralines Day

When is National Pralines Day? This holiday is always celebrated on June 24

Today is National Pralines Day. Why would you celebrate this nutty June 24 holiday? Well, if you are allergic to nuts, you likely will skip this food holiday. (And, we feel really bad for you!) For the rest of us, this holiday encourages us to go nuts over this confectionary delight. However, we doubt you need any extra encouragement. Pralines are one of the most popular of all confections.

If you are looking for some pralines, you’re in luck. You’ll find it on the shelves at any candy store. Certainly, you will find them in the candy aisle at your local grocery store. Most of the major big box stores have a candy section which includes pralines. And, if you really want to enjoy this nut-filled chocolate (or caramel) confection, you can make it at home. It’s easy!

The Historic Origin of Pralines

Pralines were invented in France in the 1600s. French pastry chef Clement Lassagne created the first pralines. At the time, he was the personal chef to the comte du Plessis-Praslin. This is where the confection gets its name. It is said that the idea came to him as he watched his daughters eat nuts and caramel candy left over from a prior confectionary project he worked on. Little did he know at the time, but pralines were about to become one of the world’s favorite candy treats. He is called the “Father of the Pralines”.

In 1727, French Ursuline nuns brought the recipe for pralines to New Orleans. In the 1800s, New Orleans confectioners substituted pecans in place of almonds. Pecans were more abundant in the region than almonds. And, with some other alterations to the recipe, American pralines quickly became a sweet Southern confectionary treat. Then, like any other deliciously sweet treat, it gained popularity all over America. Today, it is a favorite confection in candy shops all over the country.

Did You Know? The most expensive Praline Costs $240,000. It is a chocolate praline made in Brussels, Belgium. In case you wonder why te steep price, it’s because every piece has a 3.63 carat diamond on top of it.

Popular Types of Pralines

Have it your way. There are at least three types of pralines. We know you will enjoy them all. Here are the most popular ones:

The Original French Pralines – These confections consist of almonds and caramel. It is basically the original formula created French pastry chef Clement Lassagne.

Belgian Pralines – They are quite different from other types. It has a hard Belgian chocolate exterior, with a thick, liquid filling consisting of nuts and a sugary syrup.

American Pralines – When the recipe came to the Southern region of the U.S., confectioners found pecans in abundance. So, they used pecans instead of almonds. They also altered the original recipe by using brown sugar, granulated sugar, cream, and butter. It has a chewy consistency.

For the Record – In 2014, over 2,000 high school culinary students from across Georgia own the Guinness World Record for the largest praline. It weighed in at 531 pounds.  It included 100 pounds of Georgia pecans, 371 pounds of sugar, and 32 pounds of butter.

How to Enjoy and Participate in National Pralines Day

Like other food holidays, participating in National Pralines Day is both tasty and fun. Here are some ways to enjoy this holiday:

  • Forget about your diet today. Eat lots of pralines.
  • Buy some French, American and Belgian pralines. Then, invite some friends for a taste test. Which type is the group’s favorite?
  • Make a batch of homemade pralines.
  • Give boxes of pralines away to people in need of cheering up.
  • Bring a box to work to share with co-workers.
  • Grab some pecans and walnuts. Shell them, Then, compare the taste.
  • If you own a candy store, give away free samples. And, offer discounts to purchase them.

National Pralines Day Quote

“Crazy people don’t sit around wondering if they’re nuts.” – – Jake Gyllenhaal

“Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m schizophrenic, and so am I.” – – Oscar Levant

History and Origin of National Pralines Day

We did not find the creator of this sweet and nutty food holiday. Nor, did we find why he or she created it. Our speculation is the founder of National Pralines Day was a southern confectioner, perhaps in New Orleans where it was first made in America. Certainly, it was someone who loves this sweet and nutty confection.

The earliest reference to this holiday that we found was in 2011. And, the word “National” was in the title back then.

There are no congressional records to confirm that this is truly a national day. Nor, did we find a presidential proclamation.

Definition of “National” Days – and why it is important to distinguish true National days.

Celebration of the Senses Day

Monkey Business Day

About Celebration of the Senses Day

When is Celebration of the Senses Day? This holiday is always celebrated on June 24

We are ecstatic that you have come to your senses and have decided to celebrate this truly important holiday. After all, it is the only wise and rational thing to do. Today is the Celebration of the Senses Day. Celebrating and participating in this June 24 holiday simply makes all the sense in the world. So, c’mon. Use your common sense and party it up big time today!

The five physical senses are hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch. Your body recognizes them thanks to your nose, ears, eyes, skin, and tongue. Some of us were born without one or more of the five physical senses. You may have lost one or more “sense” due to an ailment, an accident, or another cause. Use today to heighten the sensitivity and capability of those you do have. Also, explore potential treatments that could help you to gain it back. Today is not the day to rue what we have lost. Rather, it is an opportunity to celebrate the senses we do have.

In addition to the five physical senses, there are other “Senses”. Researchers tell us there could be as many as many dozen in total. It depends upon your definition. For example, receptors in your body, tell your brain things like temperature and pain.

Your senses are an essential element for a healthy quality of life. They allow us to experience, interact, and communicate successfully with others and with the world around us. We tend to take them for granted. Often, we are only cognizant of them when there is a problem or if we lose them. Use this holiday to recognize their importance in your life. Be thankful that you have all of your faculties. And celebrate each and every one of your valuable senses.

What Are Your Senses?

There are five well-known physical senses. Each sense has a sensory organ. For example, you smell with your nose. The nose is a physical sensory organ of your body. The five physical senses are:

  • Hearing
  • Sight
  • Smell
  • Taste
  • Touch

Depending upon who you talk to, there are none, one or several more senses. Some people actually claim there are 12 senses! Here are some of the others. Are they true “Senses”? We will let you be the judge.

Extrasensory Perception (ESP) – Also called the Sixth sense, ESP is the paranormal ability to perceive, predict, or project information without the use of the five physical senses. About 2/3 of us believe in ESP and that we can send messages to and from each other through mind to mind contact. There is no physical sensory organ in your body associated with ESP.

Proprioreceptor – This is a sensory receptor located in the subcutaneous tissue of the body. It detects motion and position of the body. It is a perception of oneself.

Sense of Balance – It’s actually a physical sense. The vestibular system in the inner ear allows us to maintain our balance.

Common Sense – This is the ability to act and behave in a logical and intelligent manner. Many people question if this is truly a sense, or merely an expression. If we are smart, we all use common sense. But, is it a true sense? Researchers are not in agreement.

Other “senses” include temperature, pain, and light. And, some people suggest there are even more.

How to Participate in Celebration of the Senses Day

I get the sense that you are going to love this holiday. It’s quite easy to participate in Celebration of the Senses Day. Here are some practical  ideas:

  • Celebrate! and, be thankful for your senses.
  • Consciously use each of your five senses. Then, observe what they are saying to you.
  • Experiment with ESP.
  • Test out your Proprioceptor.
  • Explore the other “Senses”. Can you relate to them?
  • Learn more about the senses.
  • Learn how to protect and preserve all of your senses. For example, ear coverings in high-decibel work areas protect your hearing.
  • Practice common sense.
  • Share your sensory experiences on social media.
  • Donate to research organizations that seek cures for those who have lost the use of one of the physical senses

Global Garbage Man Day

Garbage Truck, when is Global Garbage Man Day

When is Global Garbage Man Day? This holiday is always celebrated on June 17

Everyone deserves a day of recognition for the important work they do. Hauling away our unwanted and often odiferous waste is a tough job. But, somebody has to do it. So, today, we are celebrating and giving recognition to our trash men and women on Global Garbage Man Day. On this June 17 global holiday, spend some time reflecting upon the role of sanitation workers. And, show your appreciation to the men and women who help to keep our world clean, healthy, and disease-free. And, whatever you do, do not take their work for granted. If you live in a big city, you may have experienced a strike by sanitation workers. Now, that quickly becomes an odiferous littered, and rat-infested mess.

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. So, today we’re trash talkin’. The first trash vehicles were carts, often horse or ox-drivien. Garbage men piled trash into the carts by hand and disposed of it outside of towns and villages. Plastic bags did not exist. So, garbage removal was a messy, disease-filled job. Today’s modern garbage truck has automatic loaders, allowing garbage men to sit inside their vehicle and lift trash bins up mechanically, emptying the contents into the top of the truck. While direct contact with trash is usually minimized, it is still a hard job. So, let’s give our garbage man a big “TY”.

Other Names: The Garbage Man is sometimes referred to by a number of other names. Among them are: Trash Man, Trash Collector, Garbage Collector, Refuse Collector, and Sanitation Engineer.

Garbage Men and Woman Have a Dangerous Job

Some jobs are more dangerous than others. Those directly involved in trash collection and disposal are in a risky business. This is a career field filled with health risks. Here are some of them:

  • Odors and fumes are sometimes toxic. It can lead to a variety of ailments.
  • Insects, rats, and a variety of animals can be in trash containers. They are a threat to garbage collectors.
  • Broken glass, cans, and other sharp objects can cut workers severely. Rusty nails are a danger, too. And, it leads to infections.
  • Spoiled, rotten and moldy food, and other materials can cause disease and other ailments.

Trashy Trivia and Facts

Without a doubt, the waste humans produce is a global crisis. Use this trash trivia to enlighten yourself and others, and to encourage others to minimize waste.

  • Garbage men have picked up and removed trash for thousands of years. In 500 B.C., Athens, Greece had a basic form of residential garbage service.
  • Garbage trucks were originally called bin wagons and dustbin lorries.
  • Americans send over 290 million tons of trash to the waste stream each year.
  • The average American throws out 4.9 pounds of trash each and every day.
  • Trash is bad for your mental health. Looking at trash along roadways, parks, and beaches angers and saddens us.
  • Cardboard can be recycled 7 or more times.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that grass clippings and yard waste is the second-largest portion of landfill waste in the U.S. This is an amazing fact. Grass clipping and yard waste are compostable. Most, if not all of these items should never go to a landfill.
  • Aluminum cans are the most recycled item in the U.S.
  • Recycling one ton of aluminum cans saves 21 barrels of oil.
  • Approximately 2.5 million plastic bottles are used every hour in the U.S. Let’s recycle all of it.
  • One ton of recycled plastic saves around 685 gallons of oil.
  • Today’s average garbage truck can hold up to 10 tons of trash.
  • In New York City, the cost of recycling a ton of trash is $300 more than the cost of sending it to a landfill.
  • Many years after closing, landfills are sometimes turned into parks.
  • Sweden only sends about 1% of trash to landfills. It incinerates trash to make energy. Sweden even imports trash from other countries to generate energy.

How to Celebrate Global Garbage Man Day

Here are some ways to celebrate and participate in Global Garbage Man Day:

  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle. The efforts you take help to minimize the trash going into the waste stream.  And, it makes your garbage man’s task a little easier.
  • Be conscious of how you put trash out by the curb. Are rusty nails protruding from the old boards you’re finally tossing out? Did you bag all the trash before putting it into the bin?
  • Put everything into the bin so The garbage man doesn’t have to get out of the truck and handle it.
  • If they pick up today, run out to the road and tell them “Thanks”.
  • Really surprise your garbage man. When he or she comes by, give them a gift card.
  • Encourage and support legislation and government efforts at recycling.

Today's Quote

“The person who dumps garbage into your mind will do you considerably more harm than the person who dumps garbage on your floor, because each load of mind garbage negatively impacts your possibilities and lowers your expectations.” – – Zig Zigler

History and Origin of Global Garbage Man Day

In 2011 John Arwood, an American businessman and the CEO of JDA company, created Global Garbage Man Day. The company specializes in garbage disposal and demolition.  He created this holiday to give recognition to underappreciated men and women in the sanitation field. It is a global holiday because proper trash handling and disposal is an important job all over the world. The holiday serves to recognize all workers in this field. And, it also extends to those in the growing recycling industry.
