About Wright Brothers Day

When is Wright Brothers Day? This holiday is always observed on December 17

Throughout the ages, Man has been fascinated with the idea of flying like birds in the sky.   Since those early days, many contraptions and devices were built, none of which allowed for little more than a few moments in the air. While some success occurred with gliders and hot air balloons, true flight proved elusive for thousands of years.  Finally, this all changed in a big way on December 17, 1903. On this momentous occasion, aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the first airplane to successfully defy gravity. As a result, we celebrate this December 17 holiday as Wright Brothers Day

One of the first attempts at flying was thousands of years ago. According to ancient Greek mythology, Icarus and his father Daedalus were eager to escape a prison where King Minos held them on the island of Crete. Daedalus, an inventor, created two sets of wings made of wax and feathers. During their escape, Daedalus warned his son not to fly too close to the sun or the sun would melt the wax. Icarus, emboldened by their escape, flew closer and closer to the sun. Then, the wax melted and the feathers came off. Icarus plunged to his death in the sea. Since that time, inventors and dreamers have strived to fly like an eagle.

A Historic Aeronautical Event

At the turn of the 20th Century, the race was on to create and build the world’s first successful heavier-than-air flying machine. On December 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright succeeded. They flew their “Wright Flyer” from a beach near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

The process leading to this successful flight was long and tedious. From 1899 through 1903, the Wright brothers conducted numerous tests. They developed and refined several theories on aviation, too. First, in 1899, they tested some of their aeronautical theories on kites. In 1900, they began testing them on gliders. Then, they progressed on to the construction of the plane and engine. They named the plane the “Wright Flyer”.

Finally, at 10:35 am on the morning of December 17, 1903, Orville Wright took off from the sandy beach of Kitty Hawk. The first flight was 120 feet long and lasted just 12 seconds. The plane flew at 6.8 mph. Both Wilbur and Orville Wright flew twice each on that day. They learned how to fly and control the airplane as they went. On the fourth and final flight of the day, with Wilbur at the controls, the airplane’s 59-second flight traversed 852 feet.

Over the course of the next several years, the Wright brothers continued to construct new planes, improving on both design and especially control systems.

Wright Brothers Amazing Flying Machine

Use this Aeronautical trivia and fun facts to amaze your friends.

  • The Wright brothers first patent was not for creating the airplane itself. Rather, it was for their revolutionary aerodynamic control system. This three-axis system maintains equilibrium.
  • They used a gas-powered engine.
  • The engine was water-cooled.
  • Prior to flying their airplane, they used a kite, and later a glider, to test some of their aeronautical theories.
  • They named the airplane the “Wright Flyer”. Later models became the “Wright Flyer II’ and “Flyer III”.
  • The Wright brothers lived in Dayton, Ohio.
  • Prior to their aviation endeavors, the brothers owned a bicycle sales and repair shop in Dayton, Ohio. Later, they left the bicycle business and went into the aviation field.

History and Origin of Wright Brothers Day

On December 21, 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared December 17 as Wright Brothers Day. Then, in 1963, the United States Congress made this a permanent holiday. However, they did not proclaim this December 17 holiday to be a “National” day.

We celebrate this holiday annually.

When is Pizzelle Cookies Day? December 16 holidays

About Pizzelle Day - A Seasonal Culinary Celebration

When is Pizzelle Day? This holiday is always celebrated on December 16

Pizzelle Day is today. This December 16 holiday is the perfect excuse to enjoy one of Italy’s (and America’s) most beloved cookies. A pizzelle is a thin, crisp waffle cookie that is often flavored with anise, vanilla, or lemon, and made using a special iron that stamps beautiful patterns onto each piece. Originating in the Abruzzo region of Italy centuries ago, pizzelles are considered one of the oldest cookies in the world and have long been a staple at weddings, holidays, and family gatherings.

Italian-American communities celebrate the heritage of pizzelle cookies. But, everyone can and should celebrate and enjoy this delicious seasonal food holiday. Pizzelle cookies are commonly found around holidays and festivals, most notably Christmas and Easter. The cookie itself originated in Ortona, a town in the Abruzzo region. Mark Pizzelle Day as a way to honor tradition. So, share your recipes, and showcase the patterned artistry of these cookies.

During December, all kinds of holiday cookies are made. Their irresistible aroma wafts through the house as we lovingly bake and decorate them. Of course, we keep many of them for the family to eat. We save some for Santa Claus, too. Then, we put together trays containing an assortment of our colorful and tasty creations. Pizzelle cookies are among this treasured group.  We serve the trays of Christmas cookies at parties and bring some to work to share with co-workers. Finally, we use them in cookie exchanges.

At its heart, Pizzelle Day isn’t just about cookies. Rather, it’s about tradition, creativity, and spreading a little sweetness in everyday life.

Why Pizzelle Cookies Delights Us

What makes Pizzelle Day so delightful is that it gives everyone a reason to indulge in these sweet treats without guilt. It’s also a chance to share family recipes, swap baking tips, and admire the intricate designs that make pizzelles look like edible works of art. People love experimenting with flavors, from chocolate pizzelles to citrus variations, and even playful savory twists.

How to Celebrate Pizzelle Day

Certainly, Pizzelle Day is a food holiday that we all will enjoy. I can almost taste them now.  Here are some ways you can have some fun on this great holiday:

  • Eat Pizzelles! How many can you eat today!?
  • Bake a batch with friends or family, snapping photos of your prettiest cookies.
  • Post photos on social media of you and your friends enjoying them during this holiday.
  • Pair pizzelles with coffee, tea, or gelato to make the experience even more enjoyable.
  • Of course, make enough of these wonderful cookies to bring into work and share them with your co-workers.
  • Do you know someone who lives alone or needs cheering up!? Then, brighten someone’s day by bringing them a plate of pizzelles.

History and Origin of Pizzelle Day

Bob Matthews from Holiday Insights created Pizzelle Day in 2025. Making and giving holiday cookies is a huge tradition during the Christmas season. They are fun to bake, decorate, and share with others. And they are especially good to eat.

While researching the many holiday cookie holidays in December, Matthews was amazed that Pizzelle Day did not already exist. So, Matthews immediately stopped what he was doing and created this holiday. He said: “Now, Pizzelle Day appropriately takes its place among all of the other Christmas cookie holidays.”

The date to celebrate this holiday is perfectly placed in the month. It allows you to make them just before you put your cookie tray together.

This Day in History

In addition to Pizzelle Day, here are some things that happened on this day:

  • Boston residents protesting British taxation threw tea overboard on a British ship. The Boston Tea Party was the beginning of the American fight for independence. (1773)
  • Mariah Carey’s single “All I Want for Christmas Is You” hits #1. (2019)
  • J. Paul Getty, oil billionaire, philanthropist was born on this day in 1892.

Global Belly Button Day

When is Global Belly Button Day? June 25 holidays

About Global Belly Button Day

When is Global Belly Button Day? This holiday is always observed on June 25

Summer officially arrived a couple of days ago. With its arrival comes hot and sticky weather. We surely hope that you have finely toned your body for summer because we will all be wearing less clothes. And certainly, our belly button will be prominently displayed. As a result, today is the perfect day to celebrate Global Belly Button Day. On this hot June 25 holiday, we proudly show off our navel to the world.

Our Belly button, or navel, is a lasting reminder of our birth and connection to our mother. At birth, the umbilical cord is cut. The resulting scar is your navel. It is a sense of fascination and is often viewed sensually.

Belly Button Trivia and Fun Facts

Most people are fascinated with belly buttons. So, here are some fun and interesting belly button trivia and factoids:

  • No two belly buttons are exactly alike.
  • Jeannie on the television show “I Dream of Jeannie” (1965 – 1970) has the most well-known belly button.
  • Donna Krampf put a world-record 10 blueberries in her belly button at once.
  • Outies are not the result of how the umbilical cord was cut.
  • Clean your navel thoroughly. Studies show over 2,300 different kinds of bacteria can reside inside it.
  • You might think belly button piercing began recently. However, it has been around for thousands of years. It took off in the United States and elsewhere in the 1990s.
  •  Since 1969, the town of Furano, Japan has hosted an annual Belly Button Festival.
  • Heaven forbid you are afraid of your navel. If so, then you have omphalophobia.
  • All mammals except the platypus have navels. The platypus lays eggs.

The Fascination with Belly Buttons

Global Belly Button Day is not the only time that humans have shown interest in the scar from the umbilical cord. The fascination with navels goes back thousands of years. In 1500 B.C., ancient cultures considered the belly button a sacred symbol of life and fertility. These ancient civilizations considered it the center of the body and the portal to the soul. Girls bare their stomachs to show their navel as they performed belly dances in Ancient Middle East and Northern Africa.

For a short while during Puritan times, belly buttons and most of the body were covered. Yet, throughout most of human history, navels were prominently displayed. It has always been a sensual object to arouse men. Thus, today young girls (and often not so young girls) show off their navels and flat, toned stomachs in skimpy bikinis and midriff shirts.

Innies Versus Outies

There are all kinds of belly buttons. What does yours look like? Take a minute to contemplate our navel.

The biggest distinction is whether your navel is an “Innie” or an “Outie”. An “Outie” is a belly button that is either flat with your stomach or protrudes out ever so slightly like a bump above the surface of your stomach. Babies, pregnant mothers, and very skinny people tend to have Outies. On the other hand, as its name implies, an “Innie” is a belly button that recedes into your belly. Some are shallow. While others are so deep that you can store gum and other objects in it. As we become adults, the majority of us have Innies. Whether you have an Innie or an Outie, they are equally attractive and sensual.

Additionally, navels have one of three basic shapes. They are round, oval in shape horizontally, or oval in shape vertically. Most people find them equally alluring.

Do you have a favorite shape? Most people simply like them all.

How to Celebrate and Participate in Global Belly Button Day

Take the opportunity today to enjoy your belly button and admire navels on others. But, don’t gawk. With the hot weather, plenty of navels are on display.

  • First and foremost, clean the lint and other gunk out of your navel. If you’re going to show it off, then it must be presentable.
  • Then, contemplate your navel. It’s truly a fascinating part of your body.
  • Are you in shape to show off your midriff? Hopefully, you’ve prepared for the summer season, and your stomach is flat and rock hard. If not, then take steps immediately to get in shape and tone your abs today.
  • The term emerged in England in the 1530s.
  • Watch a belly dance. Better still, take lessons.
  •  Put a drop of perfume or cologne in your navel just in case someone gets close enough to get a whiff of it.
  • Consider a belly button ring. Of course, many people believe it is perfect all by itself and would never consider changing it.
  • Kids, store your gum and other objects in it if you must. However, we do not encourage it.
  • See how many types of navels you can see.

History and Origin of Global Belly Button Day

Bob Matthews from HolidayInsights.com created Global Belly Button Day in 2025. Matthews said it was obviously a holiday in need of creation. People share a fascination with navels at every age, and for many varying reasons. So, let’s give this body part proper recognition.

In researching this holiday, we found only a few references to a Belly Button Day of any kind. One strange reference suggested a “National Sniff Your Belly Button Day” in January. The title causes you to wonder who can contort their body in such a way that they get their nose close enough to smell their navel. Although you might get a friend to take a whiff for you.

The sparse references stated a variety of dates to celebrate. As a result, Matthews found it appropriate to declare a global day of celebration because people around the world enjoy navels. This is a June 25 holiday, because at this time summer has arrived. Therefore, it is the right time to display them.

This Day in History

In addition to Global Belly Button Day, here are some other important things that happened on this day:

  • Governor John Winthrop of Massachusetts introduced the fork to American dining. At first, its use was considered sacrilegious. (1630)
  • Custer’s Last Stand: Lt Colonel George Custer and the 7th Cavalry are wiped out by Sioux and Cheyenne Indians at the Battle of Little Big Horn. (1876)
  • Actor and politician Clint Eastwood was born on this day in 1930.

National Chinese Takeout Day

When is National Chinese Takeout Day? November 5 holiday

When is National Chinese Takeout Day? This holiday is always observed on November 5

Every culture has its own cuisine. Over time, each culture develops its own dietary tastes, driven somewhat by the availability of local food sources, including herbs and spices. Chinese culture has evolved over many thousands of years. As a result, Chinese cuisine is one of the most diverse and delicious of all. Today is National Chinese Takeout Day. On this November 5 holiday, we have the pleasure of enjoying a truly exquisite food holiday. And, with it, we can choose among a very wide array of meals. The title of this holiday makes it clear that we should specifically partake in takeout food. So, go online and order a variety of Chinese menu items. We suspect your only problem today is determining which items to order and how much.

To properly partake in this delicious holiday, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind:

  • Of course, place a takeout order for Chinese food from your local Chinese restaurant. Order your selections to go. Include an order of egg rolls, too. It doesn’t matter whether you go out to pick it up, or order it through a delivery service like Door Dash.
  • Hot tea or rice wine is the  everage of choice for this holiday.
  • You will also want to select a soup. May we suggest Wonton or Egg Drop soup?
  •  Certainly, make sure to include fortune cookies for everyone.
  • Lastly, eat the meal with chopsticks. If you don’t know how to use them, today is the perfect time to learn the art of using chopsticks. It’s not that hard.

Types of Chinese Cuisine

There are several major types of authentic Chinese cuisines, along with many lesser-known types of Chinese cooking. They are largely aligned with the major areas or regions of China.

Chinese immigrants began to arrive in America in the 180os. They brought their cultural traditions with them. Concurrently, they brought recipes from their home regions. As they assimilated into their new world, some recipes remained unaltered from their home countries. Although, the recipes they brought were sometimes altered to include foods, herbs and spices more readily available in America. They further altered recipes to better match the tastes of Americans who came to their restaurants. As a result, your best chance to enjoy authentic Chinese food, is to go to China.

Here are the eight major types of Chinese cuisine:

  • Anhui Cuisine
  • Cantonese Cuisine, also known as Guandong
  • Fujian Cuisine
  • Hunan Cuisine
  • Jiangsu Cuisine
  • Shandong Cuisine
  • Sichuan Cuisine
  • Zhejiang Cuisine

Of course, there are many other types of Asian cuisine that does not originate in China. While we sometimes mistakenly think of them as “Chinese cuisine”, they are distinctly different. For example, the ever-popular Thai food is Asian, but not Chinese.

Did You Know? There are approximately 45,000 Chinese restaurants in the United States. Surely, a few of them are located in your community.

  • Be daring. Buy something on the takeout menu that you’ve never had before.
  • Learn more about China. It’s a huge country. As a matter of fact, it is the most populous country in the world. And, Chinese culture is both fascinating and storied. Learn much more about China.
  • If there isn’t a nearby Chinese restaurant, make it at home. Find a Chinese recipe.
  • Bring a box of Fortune cookies to work. Then, place them in a bowl to share with coworkers.

Important Chopstick Etiquette:  When using chopsticks, never jab them into the food on the plate. This is considered both insulting and impolite. Rather, place the chopsticks on a napkin beside the plate, or lay them flat on top of the plate of food.

History and Origin of National Chinese Takeout Day

Despite our extensive research, we have not yet found the creator or the origin of this day. Nor, did we find the reason this date was selected to celebrate National Chinese Takeout Day. Based upon our research, this holiday began around 2010. One might think that this holiday originated in China. But, all of our research suggests it was created in the United States. You could also make an argument that this holiday should be a “World” holiday, as Chinese cuisine is enjoyed all over the world.

Almost all food-related holidays and special days are referred to as “National”. I guess we Americans like our food…and it shows.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

International Newspaper Carrier Day

International Newspaper Carrier Day. When is No New is Good News Day?

About International Newspaper Carrier Day

When is International Newspaper Carrier Day? This holiday is always observed on October 10

International Newspaper Carrier Day honors everyone who is now, or once was, a newspaper carrier. This October 10 holiday also includes anyone who hawked the paper on the street, or at a newsstand. The list includes thousands, if not millions, of people. Years ago, this job was primarily populated by kids, from pre-teen through approximately sixteen. At that age, many, but not all, kids moved from newspaper delivery to restaurants, grocery stores, and retail type of jobs. Newspaper circulation has been dwindling for a few decades and will likely continue to do so. Online sources of news and information are replacing newspapers.

For the record: In 1950, there were 1,772 daily newspapers in the United States. Today, there are only 1,033. The number is expected to continue to drop. As a matter of fact, every time we check this number, it is lower.

Now, few kids deliver papers anymore except in small towns. But, the “Carrier Day” tradition lives. This job is now largely held by adults, many of them delivering the paper from their cars.

This day recognizes the importance of newspaper carriers in getting the newspaper each day into the hands of millions of readers. This day honors carriers all over the world, as they deliver the paper diligently in all kinds of weather conditions.

Even President Ronald Reagan got in on the act. On October 6, 1982, he wrote a brief message supporting this day.

How to Celebrate International Newspaper Carrier Day

Celebrate International Newspaper Carrier Day today. Here are some ways to participate in this holiday:

  • If you still get the newspaper, give your carrier a thank you card.
  • Also, your carrier will appreciate a monetary gift inside the thank you card.
  • If you do not receive the newspaper, go online and read a little about newspaper carrier and their history.
  • Were you once a newspaper carrier? If so, sit down with a cup of coffee and the newspaper, and think about your experiences.

About Don't Make Your Bed Day

When is Don't Make Your Bed Day? This holiday is always observed on December 21

Without a doubt, this will save you a few minutes of your time in the morning. Today is Don’t Make Your Bed Day. On this December 21 holiday, you get to avoid a somewhat pointless chore, if only for today. Researchers tell us that about 45% of us make our bed every day. Only 7 percent of us never make the bed. So, that means the rest of us perform this task sometimes. Most likely, mom made this task a routine daily chore during our childhood. As a result, we somewhat kept this habit into adulthood.

Against Making Your Bed:

  • It takes time in the morning that is better spent on other activities.
  • No one can or should go into your room, So, why does it matter?
  • An unmade bed promotes evaporation of moisture in the sheets and blankets promotes bacteria growth.

History and Origin of Don't Make Your Bed Day

In 2014, fifth-grade student Shannon Barba of Tijeras in New Mexico created Don’t Make Your Bed Day. Shannon was tired of this daily morning chore. He felt it was time-consuming as he rushed to get ready for school. He wrote a petition that many fellow students signed. Then, he sent it to Congress.

Shannon chose December to celebrate this annual holiday because it is the shortest day of the year. And, he felt that he could do more valuable and useful things with less time available on this short day.

In addition to today’s holiday, many other things happened on this day. Accordingly, here are some of them:

National Payroll Week

Planet Earth When is Earth Day? Sun-earth day.

About National Payroll Week

When is National Payroll Week Celebrated? This special week occurs during the week of Labor Day

The first full week of September is National Payroll Week. It always begins on Labor Day and lasts through Friday. It exists to celebrate and recognize the professional performance and achievements of payroll specialists and employees. They are the ones who make sure you receive your pay on time, with the correct amount of money, and the proper amount of deductibles every pay cycle.

Most of us are paid on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. We all tend to take the arrival of our paycheck for granted. Surprisingly, getting you correctly paid is not always as simple and straightforward as it would seem. Generally, the payroll process runs smoothly the vast majority of times. And that’s a good thing, as many of us live paycheck to paycheck. However, disaster strikes the one time when there is a glitch in the system, or a change in a deductible. It results in an error in your paycheck, or no check at all. So, error-free performance in the payroll department is a must. Hence, during this week, let payroll employees know how much you appreciate their error-free performance.

Payroll Logo: “An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. – Margaret Thatcher

The Dates for National Payroll Week by Year

This holiday always begins on Labor Day. We celebrate it during the weekdays of Monday through Friday. Here are the dates by year:

2025: September 1 – 5

2026: September 7 – 11

2027: September 6 – 10

2028: September 4 – 8

2029: September 3 – 7

2030: September 2 – 6

2031: September 1 – 5

Methods of Payment

As we go through National Payroll Week, give some thought to how we compensate workers. Over thousands of years, employers paid workers for their labor using a variety of methods. Around 3,150 B.C., ancient Egyptians were the first to use precious metals as a form of currency. They paid precious metals to workers who used it in turn to barter for goods. Then, in the 7th century B.C., the kingdom of Lydia was the first to use coins as currency. Ancient Egyptians and other ancient cultures also paid workers in grain or other goods. During the 11th century A.D., the Song Dynasty in China invented and printed paper currency. In the 1600s, “Tulip Mania” occurred in Holland. If you worked there at the time, you may have toiled for tulips. Then, you would buy goods at the store and use the tulip bulbs as payment.

Today, we use a variety of forms of currency to pay workers and purchase goods and services. Here are some of them:

Cold Hard Cash – In the form of coins and paper money, it’s the standard method used to pay workers for hundreds of years. Nowadays, that cold hard cash arrives in the form of a paycheck or an electronic direct deposit to your savings or checking account.

Credit – While it is not normally used to pay workers, it is a huge method of payment for goods and services.

Bitcoin – This is a digital currency. People are occasionally paid for their labor in bitcoin. The value of bitcoin fluctuates. However, many original investors are now quite rich.

Money services like PayPal and Venmo – There are numerous providers. People are seldom paid for their labor in this manner. It is primarily used in a big way to pay for goods and services.

How to Celebrate National Payroll Week

We all should celebrate this special event. Here are some ways to do so:

  • If you are a payroll department employee, take pride in performing your vital role.
  • If you see a payroll specialist today, let them know how much you appreciate them and the work that they do.
  • We strongly recommend that companies and organizations recognize this holiday with some form of celebration or thank you. After all, you wouldn’t want disgruntled employees in this vital company department, would you!?

If you are a mathematician, spend part of the day thinking and working in multiples of 17.

Because I Can Day

Hot Air Balloon. When is Because I Can Day?

About Because I Can Day

When is Because I Can Day? This holiday is always observed on April 24

Today is a day to be bold and daring. Today is Because I Can Day. You’re just gonna love participating in this April 24 holiday. And, do you know why? Simply because you can! After all the exciting things you do today, Evel Knievel will have nothing over the things you do. Once you experience the joy and rewards of this holiday for the first time, you’ll never need to ask yourself “When is Because I Can Day” again. And, you will find yourself adopting this motto every day of the year.

Has life become a little dull and boring? Are you looking for something new and exciting to do? Perhaps, it’s something risky and daring. It could be something that takes you out of your comfort zone. But, you’ve been hesitant and holding back for a number of reasons. Well, why not do it today simply because you can!?

There are no limits to your activities today. Use “Because I Can” as your motto for the day. When people ask you why you did something, you know your reply. As a matter of fact, no other explanation is required. Perhaps the most fun you’ll have is dreaming up wild crazy, creative, or challenging things to do today. For example, your daring plan to ride a hot air balloon or hang glide is justified by telling yourself and others that it’s “Because I Can”.

The statement by itself says a lot. Using “Because I Can” as your motto is all about attitude. It makes doing almost anything possible. It creates and promotes positive thinking. And, it’s a much more positive statement than “I think I can”. C’mon, whatever it is, you know you can. So, get to it.

When and When Not to Say "Because I Can"

There are times to, and not to use this motto. We leave it to you to choose how best to use it. However, here are a few examples:

When to say “Because I Can”:

  • Up to now, you’ve been too shy to ask that cute redhead in your math class out on a date. Isn’t it time you convinced yourself to ask her out because you can?
  •  It’s hard to take a day off from work. Today you wake up to a beautiful spring day. The golf course is calling. So, you call in a day’s vacation “because you can”.
  • Every year local Boy Scout troops in our area rappel down a thirty-story building. They do so for two reasons. First, it is a fundraiser. Second, because they can.

Used as an excuse, it explains a lot…. or does it!?

  • According to folklore, young George Washington quickly admitted to his father that he chopped down the family’s cherry tree. But when asked why he chopped it down, is it possible that George said “Because I can!?”
  • When a mother asks her young child why she took cookies from the cookie jar without permission, is it okay for the child to say “Because I can!?
  • A young, engaged woman is seen with another man. When her beau asks why, is it okay for her to say: “Because I can”?

When not to say or use “Because I Can”:

  • When a police detective asks a suspect why he did the bank heist,
“Because I Could” might not be a smart reply.
  • When your parents catch you coming in after curfew. this is not an excuse to use if you want to avoid getting grounded.
  • Also, it’s not the excuse to give your boss when he catches you sneaking out of work early.

How to Celebrate Because I Can Day

Certainly, Because I Can Day is destined to become one of your favorite holidays. Participating in this holiday is simple and easy.

  • Do things because you can.
  • Don’t do things because you can choose not to.
  • Encourage others to adopt this motto.
  • Share your experiences on social media.

History and Origin of Because I Can Day

Because I Can Day was created in 2025 by Bob Matthews, owner of HolidayInsights.com. When asked, why he created this holiday, Matthews first said ” Simply, because I can!”. He then went on to say that we all can use a little more fun things in our hectic and stressful lives. And, this holiday is definitely all about having fun. Making ” Because I Can” your motto for today opens up an endless array of amazingly fun and rewarding experiences and opportunities. And, it offers a sound excuse for what you do.

There’s no specific reason for selecting April 24 to celebrate this fun holiday.  However, Matthews said there isn’t a lot of other things happening on April 24. And, celebrating this holiday in the spring when we begin to get outdoors, opens up even more opportunities to enjoy the day.
