Old Time Cinnamon Jumbles Recipe

If Grandma called this "Old Time", it must be a very, very old recipe. In danger of being lost, we found this recipe to share with you.

Yield: about 4 dozen

Cinnamon Jumbles Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening, soft

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

How to make Cinnamon Jumbles:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Mix shortening, egg and sugar thoroughly.

  3. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.

  4. Sift together flour, baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

  5. Add dry ingredients, mixing well.

  6. Chill dough.

  7. Drop dough onto a cookie sheet by teaspoon, 2 inches apart.

  8. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

  9. Sprinkle onto cookies.

  10. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until set, but not brown.
