When is Hobbit Day? This holiday is always observed on September 22
Hobbit Day is today a September 22 holiday to really enjoy. It is the birthday of Frodo Baggins and Bilbo Baggins. They are two of the main hobbit characters from The Lord of the Rings. There also is a Hobbit Week, which occurs on the Sunday through Saturday where Hobbit Day falls.
Hobbits are little guys, and little gals, just two to four feet tall. They are our heroes in the Lord of the Rings movies, performing great acts of heroism and courage. Notably, Hobbits go around barefoot and eat seven meals a day. Indeed, they also like to dance, have parties, and enjoy fireworks. The movie “The Fellowship of the Ring” opened in this manner, celebrating Bilbo Baggins’s birthday.
You can celebrate this special holiday, by going to a Lord of the Rings movie or while reading any of author J.R.R. Tolkien’s books that include hobbits. You can hold a Hobbit party…. don’t forget the fireworks. You may also choose to walk around barefoot all day. That sounds like fun. As for me, I will celebrate this day by enjoying seven meals.
How to Celebrate Hobbit Day
Here are some ways you can celebrate during this holiday:
Watch a Lord of the Rings movie.
Better still, binge-watch the entire Lord of the Rings movies.
Hold a birthday party for Frodo Baggins and Bilbo Baggins.
Eat seven meals today.
Walk around barefoot.

History and Origin of Hobbit Day
The American Tolkien Society definitely had a lot of foresight. The society created this very special day. They proclaimed Hobbit Day and Tolkien Week in 1978. Since then, we celebrate this holiday annually. Without a doubt, they had a big, big party, with lots of food, dancing, and fireworks. Obviously, Frodo Baggins and Bilbo Gaggins fully support this holiday.
