About Nacho Day
Nachos are extremely popular both with a meal and as a snack. They are in popular demand for parties of all kinds. We enjoy them at home while watching any sporting event, at the stadium, or in a sports arena. They are so popular that there are two holidays close together to celebrate and enjoy this versatile and crunchy treat. I don’t know about you, but this is fine with me. I’m going to celebrate both International Nacho Day and National Nacho Day holidays as they arrive, with a fistful of nachos.
Eating Mexican or Tex-Mex tonight? Have it your way. A meal at these restaurants is all but certain to include nachos. As a snack, we enjoy them plain or with cheese. However, both salsa and cheese dips are sure to be around the snack bowl. Reigning supreme in the world of nachos is the Nacho Supreme. Home recipes abound. They all begin with a deep pile of chips covered with cheese, on a large serving platter. Jalapenos are also certain to be a key ingredient. Other potential ingredients include chicken, beef, salsa, black beans, onions, and black olives. Don’t forget to serve lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole on the side.

International Nacho Day is always celebrated on October 21.
National Nacho Day is always celebrated on November 6.
Who Invented Nachos?
We may not know anything about who created either International or National Nacho Day, why it was created, or exactly when it was first celebrated. But, its creation is well documented. In 1943, Mexican Agnacio “Nacho” Anaya invented nachos. Anaya lived and worked in the Mexican border town of Piedra Negras. After a long day of shopping, several U.S. Army wives entered the restaurant looking for something to eat. The kitchen staff had left, so Anaya went into the kitchen and went to work creating a snack for them. He cut tortillas (some say he cut up tostadas) into triangles, placed some cheese and jalapenos on top, then put them into the oven to melt the cheese. When he removed it from the oven, the nacho was born.

History and Origin of Nacho Day
Nachos are very popular. When we began our research into these days, we thought we’d find a huge amount of information about the creator, why it was created, and when it the international holiday was created. Yet, despite our extensive research efforts, we were astonished to find virtually no historical information as to its origin. Meanwhile, our research found it was likely that PartyExcuses.com created National Nacho Day. It does appear that both of these special days were created in the early 2000s. International Nacho Day arrived on the scene just a little earlier.
No information or documentation exists to confirm that this is a true “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamations.
