Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day.
In our first study in the early 2000s, the title of this holiday was Great Poetry Reading Day. In our second study, some internet websites are now adding the word “national” to the title. This seems strange, as it apparently did not come from the unknown creator of the holiday. Also, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day.
